Petra Bierer

Acting Co – Director Division of Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care Southern Adelaide Local Health Network 

Petra Bierer has been the Advanced Nursing Director for 5 years in the Division of Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care. She has a Master of Nursing Science with 30 years’ experience in intensive care nursing. She is also the executive lead and chair in the Clinical Governance and Partnering with Consumers framework within her division.

Her passion is to ensure teams deliver high quality nursing care in partnership with consumers by leading teams through change, implementing safety and quality frameworks and engaging with key stakeholders to ensure best possible outcomes. She has a strong interest in understanding why falls occur and opportunities to minimise falls.

A/Prof Frances Batchelor

Director, Clinical Gerontology, MARC Research Director

Associate Professor Frances Batchelor is a Principal Research Fellow and Director of the Clinical Gerontology Division. She is also a Research Lead for the Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration. As a research and clinical physiotherapist, she has over 30 years of experience in community, hospital and aged care services and completed her PhD at the end of 2010 entitled “Falls Prevention After Stroke”.  Her current research interests are falls prevention, balance and gait assessment and treatment, healthy ageing, the role of technology in ageing and health and aged care practice.

Mr Matthew Jennings, CRE Associate Investigator

Director of Allied Health at Liverpool Hospital, the Director of Physiotherapy, South Western Sydney Local Health District and Deputy Lead for the Musculoskeletal Health Clinical Academic Group, The Sydney Partnership for Health Education, Research and Enterprise (SPHERE).

He has a role in policy and practice as a member of the hospital executive, as Co-Chair of the NSW Agency of Clinical Innovation (ACI) Musculoskeletal Network and as member of the NSW Department of Health Physiotherapy Advisors Group. Mr. Jennings has led the multidisciplinary development, implementation and evaluation of a number of NSW care programs
